PLATINUM ACADEMY


The Swisherr Hoops Academy team is excited to announce a new partnership with the University of Tasmania and Elizabeth College that will provide athletes with a home for continued development opportunities.

 

To launch the partnership, Head Coach Anthony Stewart has developed a Platinum Academy. 

​

The Platinum Academy, commencing in July 2026 enables athletes to understand the work ethic and commitment required for individuals to reach their full potential. The High Performance program challenges athletes and is only for individuals ambitious about achieving a "Pathway to Pro". 

​

The program will consist of 3 athletes in age groups from U12s and above for both male and female athletes based in Southern Tasmania. 

Any athlete wanting to be considered for selection must submit an application via the link below by May 29th 2026.

The Platinum Academy is designed for athletes who are committed to taking their game to the next level and aspire to compete an elite or professional level.

This program is suited to highly motivated athletes who are prepared to invest significant time and effort into their development. Participants will follow structured weekly training plans and receive ongoing guidance and accountability to help maximise their progress and performance outcomes.

 

Pricing: 

$75 per athlete, per week for U12, U14 and U16

$90 per athlete, per week for U18 and Overs (includes access to UniGym and strength and conditioning - only available to athletes aged 16+)

Family Discounts:

Families enrolling more than one athlete in the Platinum Academy receive the following discounts:

10% off the weekly fee for a second child

15% off the weekly fee for a third and each additional child

These discounts are applied to the standard weekly academy fee.

​

Below is an outline of the program's opportunities which will include NBA style fitness testing, strength and conditioning, weekly schedules, educational outcomes, employment opportunities and skill development.

Connected programs 

The Platinum Academy is linked to the upcoming Academy program which will be launched in June, 2026. Platinum athletes will secure 3 of 10 places and trials will be held to select the additional 7 athletes at a later date.

Selection
Process

Athletes interested in joining the Platinum Academy are required to apply online by submitting an application to be considered for selection.

​

Following a review of applications,  athletes who successfully pass round 1 will then be invited to participate in an interview as part of the final selection process to narrow it down to just 3 athletes in each gender per age group.

​

As the Platinum academy is an exclusive, highly competitive program, selection is based off multiple factors beyond direct skill including coachabiltiy, work ethic, commitment, attitude, leadership and training habits.
